Scott Glaser

His mission is to paint, draw, fabricate or build precisely what he sees. What Glaser’s eye sees and what his mind’s eye sees.

And, unlike most artists, Glaser works in different styles, mediums and materials. But every piece of art has one thing in common – each one is created using the grid system.

This centuries-old system has opened a lot of doors for Scott. Corporate doors at Hyatt; Kate Spade; China Merchants Bank; Perkins Eastman Architects; Fisher Development; the city of Stamford. And front doors of private collectors in New York City, Palm Beach, Boston, Paradise Valley and Greenwich.

Regardless of style, medium, substrate or concept, using the grid allows him to recreate precisely what he sees in his reference photo onto the working surface.

Glaser is currently working on a series of portraits honoring the champions of the Black Lives Matter movement. His medium, fabric bandages, symbolizes the obvious pain and suffering this population has endured, and still does, for centuries. And more colloquially, the “band-aids” illustrate how little has been to cure what ails these people.

As of this writing, the competed “bandaics” (bandage mosaics) are: R E S P E C T Aretha; “We Are Tired of Being Beaten…” – John Lewis; She Gets My Vote, Stacey Abrams; PRO BLM, PROBLEM? Colin Kaepernick and a work-in-progress INCARCERACISM, Nelson Mandela. Future subjects will include past and present men and women who have fought tirelessly to end racism.

He has received first place awards for his paintings, drawings and fabric pieces from Greenwich Art Society; Bruce Museum, Bristol Art Museum and Rowayton Arts Center and has been shown at the Affordable Art Fair New York City, Providence Art Club, Bendheim Gallery and Flinn Gallery in Greenwich; the Hudson Valley Art Association, Allied Artists of America, Bristol Art Museum and five of the annual Richeson 75 International Art shows.

A few of the highlights in Scott’s career include: creating the largest outdoor mural for the city of Stamford in that city’s history; being chosen as one of 88 tri-state area artists to turn a piano into a piece of art in the first Sing For Hope Popup Piano exhibition, which was the largest outdoor installation ever produced in the five boroughs of New York City – Glaser’s piano, along with those designed by Kate Spade, Isaac Mizrahi and Diane von Furstenberg, was one of only ten out of 100 pianos selected to be auctioned off on Charity Buzz and Glaser was the only artist interviewed on NBC NEWS.

Scott is a member of the Providence Art Club; Greenwich Art Society; Contemporary Art Network; Hudson Valley Art Association; Allied Artists of America and Ridgefield Guild of Artists.

His studio is in Bristol, Rhode Island as are his wife, Cheryl and assistants Lambchop (Maltese), Buttercup (long-hared Chihuahua), Oliver and his sister Eloise (Sheepadoodles).
